Merry Christmas from Mrs. Knapp's class!

We enjoyed singing Christmas songs in our class all month.  We were even lucky enough to have the one and only Ben Gallagher play his new electric guitar for us.  It was a lot of fun!!  Happy New year, everyone!!

Yummy, Healthy Snacks!

We are lucky enough to have Miss Hussey come into our classroom and share some nutrition facts with us.  Each time she comes in, she shares important facts, and healthy foods with us.  She teaches us how to make healthy snacks at home.  In the past, we have learned how to make a peanut butter/banana snack,  pumpkin pie in a bag, and ants on a log (Celery, peanut butter, and raisins)....   Today, she shared a yummy smoothie recipe with us.

Computer Time!

Last week, we had the opportunity to work on the laptop computers in our classroom.  We partnered up with students from Mrs. Schmidt's class.  It was fun to look at different websites.

December News!

December is turning out to be a busy month!  Please check out all of the important things that are happening!  If you have questions, feel free to call me at school - 732-8074.  

December 15 -  Miss Hussey will be visiting our classroom for Basics.  This is a great nutrition grant that allows the kids to learn about healthy and important snacks for our growing bodies.  

December 17 -  11:10 dismissal.  Staff Development

December 21 - Fun Christmas activities in 2nd grade!!

December 24 - January 5 -  Winter break.   Happy Holidays!!

Please remember to send your child to school in appropriate clothing.  We go out for recess everyday.  Boots, snow pants, hats, gloves, and coats are a necessity!!  Thank you!!

Eye Dissection

Today, we dissected the cow eye.  It was interesting to see all of the parts we were learning about.   The best part was being able to touch all of the parts.  When we were finished, we wrote about what we noticed and what was interesting.  Some of the funny things the kids wrote were:  "Mrs. Knapp almost got sick when she was cutting out the cornea."  "The vitreous body oozed out of the eye."   It was fun to see the kids so excited about hands on learning.
