February 14 -  Happy Valentine's day!   Remember to bring your Valentines!
                       12:30 -  Rehearsal in gym for concert tomorrow night
                        2:30 - Valentine Party

February 15 -  1:00 -  Dress Rehearsal for concert
                        7:00 -  Concert

February 17 - 11:10 dismissal - Staff Development -- No ETA
February 18 - NO SCHOOL
February 21 - NO SCHOOL - President's Day

February 25 - WEAR YELLOW!!  Character Counts assembly in gym    

Finding the Volume

The Groundhog DID NOT see his shadow.  Do you know what this means?   Spring is just around the corner!!!!!    Have a great day, everyone!

It's the 100th Day of School!

                  We are 100 days SMARTER!!

ITBS time!

This will be the first year that your child will be taking the ITBS (Iowa Test of Basic Skills) standardized test.  We will be testing from February 1-4 for an hour each day.  This test is VERY important!  The following is a list of ideas that I have discussed with the kids to give them the best attitude, energy and brain power to succeed on the ITBS.

1)      Eat a healthy breakfast.

2)      Get to school on time, everyday (unless you are sick).

3)      Come to school with a positive attitude.

4)      Do your very best!

5)      Avoid scheduling appointments between 10:30 – 11:30.  This is our testing time.

Please make bedtime a priority during ITBS week!  My suggestion for bedtime would be between 8:00 and 8:30pm.

Character Counts!

The Storm Lake Elementary have implemented a new program called Character Counts.  This program has 6 areas that we really focus on.  The PILLARS, or areas are:  Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, Citizenship.  We are striving to become good characters in school, by making good choices.  We are really excited about this program!
